Description:
ASTR/PHYS 364 is the second of a two-semester sequence in
astronomy and astrophysics that is mainly intended for science
and engineering majors who are comfortable with calculus-based
courses. It is a stand-alone course. The focus of this course
is on the structure and evolution of stars, galaxies, and the
universe itself. What I hope you will draw from this course is
an understanding of how the beauty of mathematics and physics
can be applied to astronomy to explain and predict phenomena
that have continued to fascinate humans throughout recorded history.
