The quantum universe is closer than you think! From the cellphones in our pockets to the technologies shaping the future, quantum physics is part of everyday life. Ideas like superposition (particles existing in many states at once), entanglement (mysterious connections across distance), and quantum tunneling (particles slipping through barriers) aren’t just abstract concepts—they power real-world innovations.

What should you expect at our Quantum Open House?
  • One-on-one with faculty/research groups
  • Try your hand at quantum computer gaming
  • Do superconducting levitation yourself
  • Get inside actual research labs
  • Tour of the Department of Physics and Astronomy
  • Stimulating talks and engaging demos
  • How can you make a 2D quantum material? Try it!
  • Get a taste of our own liquid nitrogen ice cream

Please join Purdue’s Department of Physics and Astronomy Outreach to explore some of the wonders of the quantum world at our annual Quantum Open House and see how the quantum world connects to yours!

Out of concern for safety, liability and capacity, minors under the age of 14 will not be allowed to accompany participating adults.
