PHYS570BL: Biophysics Laboratory (PAST/FUTURE SEMESTER)

Offering:
Fall Spring Summer

Prerequisites:
BIOL 532 Theory and Practice of Molecular Biophysics I or PHYS570E Introduction to Biophysics. Must have instructor approval if this prerequisite is not met
View Additional Prerequisites

Description:
Practical experience with biophysical experimentation is presented through inquiry-based modules (expect 3 modules). Each module contains literature survey on the topic, experimental design, hands on experiment implementation, and data analysis / data modeling. Modules address biophysical applications such as protein preparation and characterization, physiochemical properties, generation of reactive / catalytic intermediates of the protein, structure/function relationships, and protein-protein interaction characterization, spectroscopic methods and spectroscopic responses. Students will gain experience in all steps that needs to be undertaken by a modern researcher.
