« PHYS220 Spring 2008

Information on Final Exam Tue 22Apr2008 2:57PM

The final exam will be held on April 30 (Wed) at 8-10 am in the Lambert Fieldhouse. Please remember to bring your student ID for verification.  You will NOT be allowed to take the exam without your student ID. No other IDs will be accepted.

You will be allowed to bring one 8.5x11 crib sheet. As for the mid-term exams,  formulae will be provided to you.  You may also use a scientific calculator during the final exam. However, you may NOT use:

  • graphic calculators
  • Pocket organizers
  • Handheld or laptop computers
  • Electronic writing pads or pen-input devices (Sharp EL 9600 is permitted)
  • Calculators built into cellular phones or other wireless/electronic communication devices
  • Calculators with a typewriter keypad (QWERTY format)
  • Calculators with paper tape and/or that make noise
  • Calculators that can communicate wirelessly with other calculators
  • Calculators that have power cords
  • Calculators with built-in computer algebra systems
  • Casio: Algebra fx 2.0, ClassPad 300, and all model numbers that begin with CFX-9970G
  • Texas Instruments: All model numbers that begin with TI-89 or TI-92, and the TI-Nspire CAS (the non-CAS TI-Nspire is permitted)
  • Hewlett-Packard: HP 48GII and all model numbers that begin with HP 40G, HP 49G, or HP 50G

Calculators may NOT be shared. You may be dismissed from the exam for violation of any of these rules and receive an F for the course. Malfunction of calculators may NOT be used as an excuse for your performance in the exam. 

You should arrive at the exam location by 7:45 am for pre-exam instructions, annoucements, or other logistic info. The exam will start at 8 am sharp and end at 10 am. If you arrive late, you will have less time to complete the exam. You will NOT be allowed to take the exam if you are over 15 minutes late. No excuses will be taken.


Final Exam Conflicts Tue 15Apr2008 2:37PM

The university rule regarding final exam conflicts is appended. Please read it carefully. If you are scheduled for more than two exams on the same day as the PHYS 220 exam or have a direct conflict, you may choose to take the 220 exam on a different day. If you choose to do so, you need to let Prof. Cui know, by email, by next Monday (Apr. 21). In the email, please list the days in the final exam week that you could take the exam. No request would be accomodated after Apr. 21.

"Students scheduled for more than two examinations in one calendar day are entitled to reschedule any examinations in excess of two. Similarly, students faced with a direct exam conflict are entitled to reschedule either examination. It is the responsibility of the student make the necessary arrangements before the last week of regularly scheduled classes. Course instructors shall not penalize student who chooses to rescheduled an examination under these options. "

Information on Exam II Mon 17Mar2008 9:57AM

Room assignments:

PHYS 112: lab sections 02, 03, 04, 05, 13

PHYS 114: lab sections 06, 07, 10, 14, 15

EE 129: lab sections 08, 09, 11, 12, 16, 17, + those with lab waiver

You will be allowed to take the exam only at your assigned location. Please remember to bring your student ID for verification.  You will NOT be allowed to take the exam without your student ID. No other IDs will be accepted.

You will NOT be allowed to use calculators of any type during the exam nor any crib sheets. A one-page formula sheet will be provided to you.  

You should arrive at your assigned exam location by 7 pm for pre-exam instructions, annoucements, or other logistic info. The exam will start at 7:15 pm sharp and end at 8:15 pm. If you arrive late, you will have less time to complete the exam. You will NOT be allowed to take the exam if you are over 15 minutes late. No excuses will be taken.

PHYS 112: lab sections 02, 03, 04, 05, 13

PHYS 114: lab sections 06, 07, 10, 14, 15

EE 129: lab sections 08, 09, 11, 12, 16, 17
