This Wednesday (09/09) in class, we will show the movie "Absolute Zero" about the history of thermal dynamics, statistical physics, and low temperature physics from mainly an experimental perspective. Learn the discoveries of superfluidity and Bose Einstein Condensation as being explained by people who made them!


Correction to a typo in HWK2

Problem 2 should read:

 

Check approximation formula (35) for the multiplicity function of binomial distribution (15) in Kittel Chap. 1 numerically for N=10000 and 2s=0, 1000, 5000, 10000. Calculate the exact value (calculate exact values and approximate values and fractional error).
