Frequently Asked Questions

WebAssign

Q. I tried to register on WebAssign but I don’t know the institution code.

A.  You’re logging in on the wrong place.  Login at https://www.webassign.net/purdue/login.html using your Purdue career account.

Q. I cannot figure out how to get webassign to work. I have already created an account, but when I go to log in I do not have any courses listed; is there a class key or something that I need before I can get started?

A.  You’re logging in at the wrong place.  Login at https://www.webassign.net/purdue/login.html using your Purdue career account.

Q. I received the access code with the textbook I bought, but the letter says we need a username, institution code, and password which can be obtained from the course professor.  I would greatly appreciate if you could provide me with this information or else let me know how else we can register for WebAssign.

A.  The letter is wrong; you do not need an institution code. Login at https://www.webassign.net/purdue/login.html using your Purdue career account.

Q. I have my access code, but when I follow the instructions it tells me to use the username and password my instructor provided or to have a class key.

A.  You’re logging in on the wrong place.  Login at https://www.webassign.net/purdue/login.html using your Purdue career account.

Q. I logged on the right way and it says I am registered under the honors physics 172 course but your name is not listed for the instructor so I was wondering if I did something wrong.

A.  Dr. Virendra Saxena is in charge of WebAssign for Phys 172H, so his name appears as instructor.

Q.  When I went to begin the first assignment, it said I needed to read the student guide to complete the assignment.  Regrettably, I could not access the student guide using the link provided, so I was wondering what I should do.

A.  The first homework set had an outdated link for the student guide. We have now corrected this in the homework set.  The student guide can be found here https://www.webassign.net/manual/WebAssign_Student_Guide.pdf .

Q. After I click, "submit assignment", I get no particular acknowledgement that it has actually been submitted. Are the assignments supposed to say "assignment subimitted" after I submit?

A. After you submit your answers in WebAssign, if you go back to the main page, you will see your score for the assignment you have submitted. It gives you points for all the correct answers and shows the total score for the assignment. Also your accepted correct answers show with green check marks and incorrect answers show with red cross marks on your assignment page.

Q.  Help!  I really did read all of the instructions on the course website, including this entire FAQ, and I still can't get it to work.

A.   Email  CHIP_172H@physics.purdue.edu for assistance.

iClicker

Q. I ordered an iClicker online and I should have it by the end of the week. Will I be okay until then or do I need to have the iClicker before then?

A.  No worries!  We drop the 5 lowest iClicker scores.

Do I have Recitation/Lab This Week?

Q.  I don't exactly remember if I have Recitation tomorrow, but I was hoping you could tell me.

A.  Check the Course Schedule, available at the links on the left.
