Forward Pixel Detector upgrade - phase I

Purdue is one of the production centers for the Forward Pixel Detector upgrade. The production of approximately 500 pixel sensor modules is part of the Phase-1 upgrade of the Forward Pixel Detector in CMS. We use a robotic assembly process to build these modules which will be used to construct the upgraded detector at Fermilab. Installation of the upgraded pixel detector in CMS is planned during an LHC technical stop at the end of 2016.

Forward Pixel Detector upgrade - phase II

The LHC complex will undergo a series of upgrades (High Luminosity Phase of the LHC, HL-LHC) in order to increase the instantenous luminosity to unprecedented values at hadron colliders. The HL-LHC is expected to be ready for data taking in the 2020s with significant detector R&D already taking place now.
