Department of Physics and Astronomy faculty celebrate anniversaries at Purdue

Purdue University honored over 300 faculty members for their years of service during a celebratory luncheon Dec. 3. Faculty members were celebrated for service anniversaries ranging from 10 years to a remarkable 55.
These faculty members of the Department of Physics and Astronomy were honored at the event:
- Tongcang Li, professor (Physics and Astronomy, Electrical and Computer Engineering), celebrating 10 years of service
- Kyoung-Soo Lee, professor, celebrating 10 years of service
- Oana Malis, associate dept. head and professor, celebrating 15 years of service
- Michael Manfra, Bill and Dee O’Brien Distinguished Professor (Physics and Astronomy, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Engineering) celebrating 15 years of service
- Yuli Lyanda-Geller, professor, celebrating 20 years of service
- Norbert Neimeister, professor, celebrating 20 years of service
- David D. Nolte, Edward M. Purcell Distinguished Professor celebrating 35 years of service
- Daniel S. Elliott, professor (Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering), celebrating 40 years of service

Their commitment to advancing knowledge and empowering students reflects the very spirit of Purdue in transforming lives and shaping the future," said Gabor Csáthy, Department Head of Physics and Astronomy and professor.
The luncheon also commemorated the 60th anniversary of the University Senate. The senate serves in an advisory capacity to help achieve the educational objectives of the university. It features elected members of the Purdue faculty as well as the presidents of Purdue Student Government and Purdue Graduate Student Government.
