Prof. Pyrak-Nolte becomes President of the American Rock Mechanics Association

Prof. Laura Pyrak-Nolte began her 2-year term as President of the American Rock Mechanics Association on July 1st following a term as Vice-President in 2015-2017. ARMA is a 1000-member professional science and engineering society that promotes interaction in the study and application of rock mechanics and geomechanics among industry, academia, and government sectors.
A geophysicist, Prof. Pyrak-Nolte’s research interests focus on wave propagation and fluid flow in fractured and porous media. She was named and ARMA fellow in 2013. Prof. Pyrak-Nolte received a BS from SUNY Buffalo, a MS from Virginia Tech, and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. She has worked at Purdue since 1997.
