REU Application Process

A complete application requires:

  1. Completed and submitted electronic application form. Please keep the description in various application input fields brief, preferably one paragraph long. Be specific, especially in the following fields:
    • Computer experience: List programming languages you are familiar with and level of your experience; list any special programming courses taken by you.
    • REU goals: List particular areas of physics you are most interested in (condensed matter, biophysics, ...) and identify if you prefer theoretical/computational work or experimental (or both). You can also list research projects you have worked on in past.
  2. Two letters of recommendation. You will be asked to provide names of up to three faculty members in electronic application form, and we will send recommendation letter request to these faculty. It will be up to the faculty members to upload/mail their letters to our REU program.
  3. Academic transcript in pdf form submitted online with the application form. Note that you will have an option to submit your transcript at a later time - the link to transcript submission page will be sent to you after you submit the application form. The transcript will help us in determining the kind of project that is suitable for you, for example if you had no exposure to quantum physics we will not offer you a project that expects deep knowledge of that field.
Do not send a transcript that contains you social security number. Remove your SSN before sending your transcript.

Proceed to the electronic application form.
