Research Interests Current

Experimental particle physics involving analysis of data from the CDF experiment at Fermilab and preparations for the CMS experiment at the Cern LHC.

Previous Area(s)

Experimental particle physics; resonance production, neutrino interactions, electron positron collisions.

Research Activities

As a member of the CDF collaboration at Fermilab I am particularly interested in finding the optimal way to measure the mass of the top quark produced in proton anti-proton collisions at high energy. For the next few years Fermilab is the only place where this measurement can be made.

If the Fermilab Tevatron accelerator can be made to run with very high luminosity we may also have a chance to discover the Higgs particle if it exists and its mass is just above the limit set at CERN.

Teaching Interests

Fall 2004:Teaching physics 610 using the modern textbook "Classical Mechanics" by Jose and Saletan. It makes considerable use of the modern geometrical approach to classical mechanics, introducing the concepts of manifolds and differential forms.
