Demos: 6B-15 Electric Motor Model

This is a demonstration of an electric motor, an electromechanical device which converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. This model operates on the interaction between an electrical current in a conducting loop with a magnetic field which will generate force and thus spin the armature coils.

Directions for doing the demo: Attach a 6 volt power source to the armature coils and the armature will begin to rotate.

Suggestions for Presentation: This is an excellent device to explain the operation of an electric motor. The device is large, and has color coded coils to aid in the explanation on the motor.

Applications: Faraday's Law
