Demos: 6B-08 Galvanometer Movements

A variety of meters is available for showing the movement of the galvanometer coil when a current is passed through it. In all cases a video camera is used to project the small movements so that they are visible to the class. A display model of a d’Arsonval galvanometer is available also.

Directions: The apparatus will be set up by the lecture-demo staff. Follow carefully the directions given.

Suggestions for Presentation: A pair of overhead transparencies accompanies this demo. Use them to work out the torques that are developed on the coils. Then show results of such torques by supplying a current to an actual galvanometer.

Applications: Various analog display meters.
