Demos: 3D-04 Solar Fan

Solar cells (thin disks of silicon material) generate enough electricity from a strong light source to generate approximately 1.2 V, sufficient to drive a small DC motor to which a fan blade is attached.

Directions: No particular directions. You might need to move the light source around a bit to get the best results.

Suggestions for Presentation: This is a straightforward demo illustrating solar energy. It is best performed after a discussion of solar cells.

Applications: A variety of technologies related to solar energy can be discussed as an application of this demo.
