Demos: 1J-28 Wine Bottle Holder

A wine bottle is placed in this standard holder and made to balance as shown, thus illustrating that the center of gravity of the bottle is directly over the support point.

Directions: As you place the bottle in the holder, you may need to position it by trial and error to insure balance.

Suggestions for Presentation: Without comment, set up the balance condition and ask how this is possible. Refer to the condition for stable balance (the center of gravity must lie directly over and within the boundary of the support surface.

Applications: People can balance under a variety of body configurations, as long as the center of gravity lies over the support.
