Senior Manager, Lockheed Martin Space Systems
Penny Warren is the Senior Manager for Lockheed Martin Space Optical Sensor Components in the Optical Talent Center providing staffing and technical oversight for Focal Plane Subsystem, Lasers Systems, and Optics in optical payloads. Prior to joining LM Space, Penny was a Senior Manager at Ball Aerospace where she lead Optical and Detector Engineering and worked as the Technology Area Lead for Focal Plane Subsystems. Penny has been an IPT Lead for many focal plane array subsystems and star trackers, has supported over 25 proposals, and has led multi-million-dollar subcontracts. In her last year at Ball, Penny was the Deputy Project Engineering Functional Manager teaching project engineering best practices across business units. Before Ball, Penny worked at the Naval Research Lab in Washington, D.C. as a Research Physicist where she worked on sensor fusion and characterization. At NRL, Penny was the Co-PI of a Marine Corps Warfighting Lab project which fielded UAV helicopters, each carrying an EO-IR gimbal that downlinked geo-located imagery. Penny holds a PhD from Purdue University in high energy nuclear physics. She was awarded the 2011 Outstanding Alumni Award from the Purdue University College of Science.
