CUWiP anniversary logo

The first Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP) was hosted at the University of Southern California in 2006. CUWiP has been growing in size ever since. The 10th anniversary APS CUWiP 2015 is scheduled for January 16th – 18th 2015, and will be hosted by 8 different sites around the continental USA. These sites include Purdue University, North Carolina Research Triangle, Rutgers - the State University of New Jersey, the University of California, Santa Cruz, the University of Michigan, the University of Mississippi, the University of Texas at Brownsville and Yale University.

Each program is planned by the host committee; however, the general itinerary will include several talks from physicists about various aspects of their careers, panel discussions about graduate school and careers options, discussions about being a woman in physics, tours of the host university’s labs, and a student research poster session.

The goals of the conference include
• Helping undergraduate women continue in physics
• Providing networking opportunities for undergraduate women
• Providing information about graduate schools and career opportunities
• Connecting undergraduate women with potential female mentors
• Giving undergraduate women the support they need to strive and be successful

After attending the conference, we hope the participants leave with the following knowledge:
• Greater familiarity with the graduate school application process and the inner workings of graduate school programs
• Connections with other women in physics in both faculty and student positions
• Greater understanding of the career opportunities for a variety of degree options in physics
