Hisao Nakanishi

Hisao Nakanishi, professor of physics and astronomy, retired in 2019. Nakanishi joined the department in 1984 and served as associate department head from 2007 to 2013. His research focused on condensed matter theory and statistical mechanics. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a master’s and doctorate from Harvard University.

Ronald Reifenberger

Ronald Reifenberger, professor of physics and astronomy, joined the faculty in 1978 and retired in 2019 after 41 years of service. His research focused on condensed matter physics, and nanoscience and technology, particularly scanning probe techniques. He earned a bachelor’s degree from John Carroll University and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Chicago.
