Mineral Separation Laboratory
Welcome to the Purdue University Mineral Separation Lab website! The Mineral Separation Lab was launched in 2003 due to the efforts of Mr. Tom Clifton and Dr. Darryl Granger. The Mineral Separation Lab started small, processing around 50 samples per year to up to 600 samples in 2006. We have processed thousands of samples throughout the years and are getting more everyday. The Mineral Separation Lab now employs Purdue University students as a part of the staff and welcomes many visitors, both locally, nationally, and internationally. We always welcome more visitors, questions, e-mails and phone calls. Feel free to contact the Mineral Separation Lab at any time.
This site explains the mineral separation procedure used to prepare a sample for rare isotope analysis using Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) and much more useful information about the lab, people, safety and other important links. View the flow chart of the mineral separation Procedure. In order to view the flow chart in more detail, when the picture appears on the page, right-click on the picture and click "save as..".
