Current Research-Breakjunctions

One of the simplest ways to study current flow through nanostructures is to produce a gap of nanometer-size dimensions in an otherwise continuous metallic wire. A variety of techniques have been devised in other labs to produce tiny gaps with nanometer-size dimensions. We are trying to understand the stability of these gaps to learn what promise they might have for future applications in nanoscale applications.
