Tue 21Dec2010 1:42PM

The solution for the final exam has been posted.  The statistics for the exam and for the course grades can be found in the "Grading" section of the webpage.

Similar to the midterm and final exam scores, the distribution of final course scores was extremely broad, ranging from 15 to 91.

Due Date for Homework 11 changed/abolished

Fri 03Dec2010 12:32PM

We did not get as far as I thought we might have on Dec. 2.  Hence, I don't want HW11 due on Dec. 7.  The homework will be ungraded (please see newly updated document for precise rules).

Grades and Rank Available

Mon 29Nov2010 10:15AM

Students wishing to review their grades in advance of the final exam are encouraged to drop bye my office.  I will give them a detailed breakdown of their scores and their rank in the class.

Exam 2 Announced

Wed 10Nov2010 12:24PM

Exam 2 is scheduled for Nov. 18.  The format and rules for Exam 2 are similar to those for Exam 1.  You can find two previous exams on magnetostatics posted under the "Exam" section of the website.  There you will also find a cribsheet that will be provided with the exam.  You may not use any other cheat sheets, study aids, calculators, or communication devices during the exam.

I think the equation sheet contains plenty to help jog your memory but if you wish to add anything to it, I will gladly consider any reasonable request.  Good luck to all on the exam.

Addendum to Exam 1 Cribsheet

Tue 05Oct2010 5:34PM

A student requested that the multipole expansion for the electric potential be added to the Exam 1 Cribsheet.  It has been added and the amended cribsheet is posted to the "Exam" section of the course website.

Exam 1 Rules

Thu 30Sep2010 9:47AM

For exam 1 on Oct. 7 your exam will contain a first page that is identical to to the first page in "Practice Exam 01 - 02".  You may not use any other cheat sheets, study aids, calculators, or communication devices during the exam.

I think the equation sheet contains plenty to help jog your memory but if you wish to add anything to it, I will gladly consider any reasonable request.  Good luck on the exam!

Typo in Problemset 5

Mon 27Sep2010 9:49AM

There is a typo in Problem Set 5, Question 4.  The original question read, "... two point charges in Problem 2 with an ...".  The correct text is, "... two point charges in Problem 3 with an ...".  A corrected version has been uploaded.  My apologies for any confusion.
