2. Introduction

To begin our study we first present an analytical investigation of the expected structure ofthe wavefront timing. This is followed by a study of the morphology of Monte-Carlo generatedshowers (A description of the Monte-Carlo air shower simulation methods used are given inKertzman and Sembroski, 1991) which are then compared with the analytical results. We concludewith some remarks on what type of information can be extracted from actual measurements of thearrival times of the Cherenkov light pulse. Some recommendations for data analysis strategies aresuggested.
