Experimental Biological Physics
The Departments of Physics and Biological Sciences at Purdue University seek outstanding candidates for a faculty position in Experimental Biological Physics to further strengthen this new departmental growth area. We especially seek applicants with interests in newly emerging areas, such as the physics and biology of the cytoskeleton, single biomolecule spectroscopies, molecular-level nanomedicine, in vivo imaging at the single molecule scale, and other areas that would complement existing biological physics research within the Departments and across the University. While this search will focus on candidates at the Assistant Professor level, candidates of exceptional merit will also be considered for Associate and Full Professor positions. This may be a joint appointment between Physics and Biological Sciences, depending on the qualifications and interests of the candidate.
Successful applicants are expected to lead an independent, externally-funded research program. A Ph.D. in physics, biology or a closely related area is required, and postdoctoral experience is preferred. Candidates should submit a CV (including publication list), a description of proposed research, and a statement of teaching interests at the College of Science Faculty Hiring website. Three letters of recommendation should be sent electronically or to Experimental Biological Physics Search, Department of Physics, Purdue University, 525 Northwestern Ave., West Lafayette, Indiana 47907-2036, USA. Complete applications received by Jan. 15, 2007, will be given full consideration, although the search will continue until the position is filled. Purdue University is an Equal Opportunity/Equal Access/Affirmative Action employer and is committed to building a diverse faculty of excellence.
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
The Purdue University Department of Physics in collaboration with the College of Engineering has faculty openings in experimental condensed matter physics, with special emphasis on candidates whose research is in the area of nanoscience. This is part of a campus-wide initiative on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. This effort includes the new Birck Nanotechnology Center, a $60M interdisciplinary facility, and approximately 20 new faculty positions in the Colleges of Science and Engineering added during the past few years. While this search will focus on candidates at the Assistant Professor level, candidates of exceptional merit will also be considered for Associate and Full Professor positions. Depending on the candidate, this position may involve a joint appointment in departments in both Science and Engineering.

Experimental Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS)
The Department of Physics at Purdue University seeks applications for a Faculty position in experimental Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS). This position would be associated with the Purdue Rare Isotope Measurement Laboratory (PRIME Lab). This is a national facility which supports researchers from biomedical applications, rare isotope dating, and studies involving cosmogenic nuclides. The successful candidate is expected to have expertise in developing the AMS technique, as well as a scientific program that utilizes AMS.
The level of the position will depend on the candidate's experience. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field, an outstanding record of research accomplishments, and evidence of potential excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Salary and benefits are highly competitive. Candidates are expected to develop vigorous research programs, supervise graduate students, and to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae, publication list, and brief descriptions of their planned research program and teaching philosophy. Electronic submission is preferred at the College of Science Faculty Hiring website. At least three letters of recommendation should be sent electronically or to AMS Search, Department of Physics, Purdue University, 525 Northwestern Ave., West Lafayette, Indiana 47907-2036, USA. Applications completed by January 15, 2008 will be given full consideration, although the search will continue until the position is filled.
