Tether molecules: xylyl dithiol (XYL)

XYL = HS-CH2-C6H4-CH2-SH
Length = 0. 8 nm, width = 0.5 nm
HOMO (highest occupied molecular orbital) - LUMO (lowest unoccupied molecular orbital) gap = 4 eV
(All the values were calculated using HyperChem program.)

XYL molecular layer is a relatively conducting layer of sticky molecules for Au nano-cluster on LTG:GaAs surface.
Two thiol (-S) end group bond both to Au cluster facet and to LTG:GaAs surface Providing mechanical tethering of Au cluster to LTG: GaAs surface and conduction channel.
