Equipment Maintenance

This Administrative control requires that safety equipment be functioning properly.

1.  All safety equipment should be tested regularly and inspected before use.
2.  Fume hoods are tested and calibrated periodically by REM. Do not use it if it doesn't have the proper flow.
3.  Safety showers and eyewash stations are tested periodically by REM. In addition, they should have water run from them about once a week, especially for eyewash stations.
4.  PPE should be inspected before each use to ensure that it is not damaged.
5.  All lab equipment should be repaired if damaged.
6.  Electrical cords should be repaired or replaced if damaged.
