Operating procedures

This Administrative control provides specific instructions on how tasks are to be carried out. This may be considered another set of policies and rules. Examples of this special type of policy would include:

1.  Generic Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the chemical hygiene plan.
2.  Specific SOPs developed for a individual laboratory .
3.  Personal protective equipment requirements in the hazard assessment.
4.  Instructions for specific pieces of equipment.

These procedures may either be step by step instructions for a process, or guidelines on how to do any process involving a specified type of hazard.
