Fire Emergencies
If you discover a fire or fire-related emergency such as abnormal heating of material,
hazardous gas leaks, hazardous material or flammable liquid spill, smoke, or odor of
burning, immediately follow these procedures:
1. |
Activate the building fire alarm system (fire pull station). If not available or operational,
verbally notify persons in the building. |
2. |
Call 911 (9-911 from within PRIME Lab) |
3. |
Isolate the area and evacuate the building: |
Close doors if possible to keep others out of the area. |
Use a fire extinguisher to evacuate yourself and others, or
to extinguish a small fire (fire extinguisher training is not required to use one). |
4. |
If fire alarms are ringing in your building follow the building emergency plan. |
