1. |
For SMALL Spills of Hazardous materials that you have the resources to remedy. |
 |
|
|
Close doors if possible, and keep others out of the area. |
|
|
Use appropriate PPE to handle the spill. |
|
|
Use a spill kit, paper towels, or other absorbent material that will neutralize the spill, if available.
|
|
|
A dustpan and brush should be used to clean up contaminated absorbents. |
 |
|
|
The area should be decontaminated with soap and water or other appropriate solvent after clean-up. |
|
|
All contaminated materials must be placed in a labeled closed container for pickup by REM. |
2. |
Minor Injuries. |
 |
|
|
Report to a Purdue approved occupational medical provider if medical treatment is needed. The
Purdue University Student Hospital is not an approved provider. |
|
|
All injuries which occur on the job should be reported. |
|
|
Do not transport injured person(s) in personal or department vehicles.
After giving first aid, call 911 (9-911 from PRIME Lab) for ambulance transportation. |
|
|
Do not dispense or administer any medications, including aspirin, or put
any ointments or creams on wounds or burns. |
