Emergency Procedures

Emergency procedures are used to minimize the risk to employees and property from an event that poses an immediate risk to life, health, or property. The most common emergencies in a laboratory are:

1.  Spills of hazardous materials.
2.  Splashes of hazardous materials onto personnel
3.  Fire or explosions
4.  Injuries to personnel

These emergencies can be subdivided by severity:

A.  High Hazard Emergencies.
B.  Low Hazard Emergencies
C.  Fire or explosions
D.  Mercury Spills
