About PGSA

About_Us.jpgThe Purdue Physics Graduate Student Association (PGSA) is comprised of the graduate student body in the physics department here at Purdue University. Our general goal is to provide resources and support for graduate students, including opportunities for professional development, social events, and academic support. We also serve as a line of communication between students and faculty and administration to create a unified and supportive community.

Although COVID-19 disrupted many of our social events, we are looking forward to re-implementing successful past events to recreate the in-person social environment we know and love, including the Thanksgiving Potluck and Chinese New Year Celebration, and we are always open to suggestions! Other social activities include roller blading, kayaking, game nights, movie nights, and more. Each week a volunteer organizes coffee and cookies in the PGSA lounge, so be on the lookout in your emails and discord for that.

In addition, the Graduate Students' Seminar Series is managed by the PGSA and provides an opportunity for students to present their research and/or related intro topics without the stress of conferences or meetings. This provides students with an avenue to practice presenting and public speaking in a non-judgemental environment.

We are always open to hearing from graduate students about opinions and suggestions regarding the department, so please feel free to reach out, either to any of the board members via email or through the PGSA discord (click here to join)! Looking forward to seeing everyone around the department!
