Oxidizer      

Definition:
  A chemical other than an explosive that initiates or promotes combustion in other materials.
     
Examples:
  potassium chlorate, potassium dichromate, potassium nitrate, potassium permanganate
     
Precautions:
  Plan ahead for what you are doing
  Minimize the quantity used
  Use appropriate shields if a violent reaction may occur
  Keep away from flammable, organic materials, and reducing agents
  A fire extinguisher should be in the work area
  PPE as required by hazard certification
     
Possible Health Effects:
  May cause irritation or burns to skin and eyes
  Many oxidizer are toxic and can result in poisoning or death
  Can produce explosive mixtures with organic materials
  Some oxidizers are corrosive
     
First Aid:
  Immediately flush skin or eyes with tepid water for at least 15 minutes
