Unstable (reactive) Materials

Definition:
A chemical which will vigorously polymerize, decompose, condense, or will become self-reactive under conditions of shock, pressure, or temperature but is not explosive

Examples:
  Cycloaliphatic Epoxide Resin ERL-4221

Precautions:
  Avoid incompatible materials (See SDS)
  Use minimum quantities needed
PPE as required by hazard certification

Possible Health Effects:
May produce extreme heat if contaminated with incompatible material
Rapid polymerization may result in container rupturing

First Aid:
Immediately flush skin or eyes with tepid water for at least 15 minutes
See SDS for more detailed first aid treatment
Get medical attention if significant burns or if in eyes
