Safety Data Sheet: A detailed description of a hazardous chemical similar to an MSDS .

A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is required to have 16 sections, as compared to the older MSDS which was required to have 9 sections.   The SDS is part of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals.   The format is much more restrictive that the older MSDS.   Currently OSHA is transitioning from MSDSs to SDSs.
