The least common form of exposure is by injection. Injection exposures occurs when a sharp object containing or contaminated with hazardous chemicals penetrates the skin. Hypodermic syringes are the most common source of injection risks. Injection exposure also occurs when cuts are caused by broken glass and other "sharps" contaminated with hazardous chemicals. The object "injects" the contamination as it cuts. |
