Chemical Waste

Chemical waste is regulated by the EPA, not OSHA.

1.  Keep the waste containers closed.
2.  Waste must be labeled or clearly marked with the words "HAZARDOUS WASTE" and with the contents of the container from the start of accumulation.
3.  Don't accumulate/store too much waste at one time.
4.  Obey all rules for chemical segregation and flammable liquids storage.   (Waste and non-waste follow those rules the same way.)
5.  Waste must be in containers which are compatible with the waste and suitable for transportation.
6.  A total less than 50 gallons of chemical waste and less than one quart of acute hazardous waste may be stored in any waste generation area.
7.  Don't mix waste chemicals into a catch all container.
