Personal Protective Equipment

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used to provide protection from hazards that cannot be controlled by other means. There are many types of PPE, and it is required to have training in each type of PPE that you use. The PPE that you need should be specified in the hazard assessment for the area where you work. PPE on the hazard assessment is a requirement for work in that area. There are separate training pages for each type of PPE so that you don't need to be trained in PPE that you don't use. Examples of PPE are:

1.  Eye protection
This includes safety glasses, goggles, and face shields
2.  Clothing
This includes normal street clothing, aprons, and lab coats.
3.  Gloves
This is for protection from chemicals, sharp objects, heat and cold.
4.  Hearing protection
This includes ear muffs and ear plugs.
5.  Light protection
This includes laser glasses, welding glasses, and glassblowing glasses.
