December 7, 2004: Earth scientists interested in terrestrial cosmogenic nuclides are invited to attend symposium SS-17 on "Cosmogenic nuclides and surface process research: new developments and applications" at the 2005 Goldschmidt Conference, May 20-25, 2005 in Moscow, Idaho, USA. http://www.the-conference.com/2005/gold2005/index.php This symposium invites contributions addressing the techniques and principles of terrestrial cosmogenic nuclide surface exposure dating. Case studies concerned with key applications such as dating of landforms, measurement of catchment-averaged erosion rates, and burial dating are welcomed, as well as presentations on nuclide production rates and corrections for geomagnetic and atmospheric shielding. New developments in analytical methods including accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS), AMS target preparation, and noble gas mass spectrometry are also sought.
