Final Exam: Dec 19

The final exam will be held on Sat. Dec 19 from 10:20am-12:20 pm in ARMS B061.

The format will be the same as in the in class exams, with the same guidelines

applying for your cheat sheet and calculator. The exam will concentrate on material

since the last in-class exam, see the list of topics in the Topics folder on the

class website.

In problem 1, ignore the M_Sun symbol and take Jupiter's mass to be 1.90 x 10^27 kg.

In problem 4c, assume that the mean mass per gas particle is 2 atomic mass units.

 


Midterm #2 on Nov 4

The 2nd midterm will be held in class on Nov 4. The format will be the exact same

as the first exam (calculators, single cheat sheet) and will be cumulative, emphasizing

material covered since the previous midterm exam.

In-class exam on Oct 5

The ast 363 in -class exam on Oct 5 will cover topics 1-18 on the topics list 1 PDF on the class website. This includes material covered in lecture, in the scanned handouts I sent via email,
and the various pages I assigned in Lewis. You are allowed to bring
in a scientific calculator of a type that doesn't store extensive amounts of text, and a single 8x11 double-sided cheat sheet that must be in your own handwriting
and not photocopied or scanned. You must hand this in with your exam, and it
will be returned to you with the graded exam.
