"EXTRA" MORONI OLSEN Moroni Olsen played the judge in "The Courtroom" episode of I Love Lucy which aired for the first time on 11/10/1952. He also appeared in the Desi/Lucy movie "The Long Long Trailer" as Mr. Tewitt. He was born on June 27, 1889 in Ogden, Utah, home of the Moroni Olsen Players. He died on November 22, 1954, almost 2 years to the month of appearing on ILL and the same day as The Long Long Trailer was released. He appeared in over 90 movies. "Mildred Pierce" (1945) with Joan Crawford, Eve Arden, and Moroni is in the National Film Registry. (i.e. This movie will be preserved for posterity.) He was in 3 movies with Lucille Ball, the other 2 being "That's Right, You're Wrong" (1939), and "The Three Musketeers" (1935). He appeared in 3 movies with Charles Lane: "Call Northside 777" (1948), "Kentucky" (1938), and "Rose of Washington Square" (1939) which also had William Frawley in the cast. He appeared in "Submarine Command" (1951) and "Invisible Stripes" (1939) with William Holden. In "Command Decision" (1948), "Weekend at the Waldorf" (1945), and "Madame Curie" (1943) with Van Johnson. He was in 3 movies with John Wayne, including "Reunion in France" (1942). Moroni Olsen was one of the top billing actors in many of his movies. Some of the characters he played were Dr. Humphries in "Life with Father" (1947) (didn't Lucy Ricardo read his book??!) and Tim Bagley in "From This Day Forward" (1946) (any relation to Vivian Bagley??). In "Notorious" (1946) he played Walter Beardsley. (Hmm... Lucy played Helen Beardsley in "Yours, Mine and Ours" (1968)...) And be sure the next time you watch "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", to listen to the voice of the Magic Mirror---it's Moroni Olsen.
