Amanda 2.4.2p2 binaries for a Snap Guardian 4400 are available at http://www.physics.purdue.edu/~psmith/snap-amanda.tar.gz.

Remember what the Snap server says when you log in via ssh:

The secure shell utility SSH is provided to enable easy installation of
Snap Appliance Inc. certified and sanctioned backup agents only.
Snap Appliance Inc. is not responsible for the support of installed
installed third-party applications and cannot be held liable for
system failures and/or data loss which may ensue from improper use of
command-line or Graphical User Interface management utilities.

I am not responsible if you hose your Snap Server either.

That said, here's how to install the Amanda client: Gnutar is nice for breaking up the large partitions into managable chunks.

A version of amanda for Snap Guardian that is xfsdump-aware can be downloaded here (snap-amanda-xfsdump.tar.gz).

It needs some RPMs installed:

I had to force dependencies by installing with "rpm --nodeps -i"
