Remember what the Snap server says when you log in via ssh:

I am not responsible if you hose your Snap Server either.

• Add to /etc/passwd:
  

  operator:asd123:2:100:system operator:/local_user_:/bin/sh

• Add to /etc/services:

    amanda       10080/udp  #Dump server control
    amandaidx    10082/tcp  #Amanda indexing
  

• chmod go+w /dev/null  

  
  (/dev/null isn't writable for some reason)
• Untar the tarball above in / on the snap server.
• Restart xinetd
• Edit ~operator/.amandahosts to allow your dump host to connect
• Make sure calcsize, killpgrp, rundump, and runtar (in /usr/local/libexec) are setuid.
• Make sure /var/lib/amandates and /usr/local/var/amanda/gnutar-lists are owned and writable by operator.
• /etc/amanda.exclude can be used to exclude files with gnutar.
• amrestore and amrecover are installed in /usr/local/sbin

A version of amanda for Snap Guardian that is xfsdump-aware can be downloaded here (snap-amanda-xfsdump.tar.gz).

It needs some RPMs installed:

• attr-2.0.1-0.i386.rpm
• dmapi-2.0.2-0.i386.rpm
• libattr-2.0.1-0.i386.rpm
• xfsdump-2.0.0-0.i386.rpm
• xfsprogs-2.0.3-0.i386.rpm

I had to force dependencies by installing with "rpm --nodeps -i"
