My Research Interests

My research program consists of two distinct but ultimately related components: science and instrumentation. The thrust of my science work is to understand physical processes in black hole systems (including stellar-mass black holes and active galactic nuclei). Of particular interest are mass accretion, particle acceleration, radiation mechanisms, and observational signatures of strong gravity. On the experimental side, I have been involved in hardware and software development for astronomical applications.
