Why should I join Women in Physics?
Women In Physics is involved in the community. For the past two years we have conducted a food drive at Christmas, and in the past, we guided a physics book exchange in close coordination with the Society of Physics Students.
Our members support each other. You can count on other members, male or female, to give you help whenever you ask for it. Members help each other with homework, advise each other about classes they have taken, and provide moral support for each other.
We also strengthen the department. Members encourage each other to try new things and keep working hard at what they are doing. Women in the discipline are few and far between, and we help to counteract the isolation that can occur. Members share new ideas and discuss new things. Members cause each other to THINK.
Women In Physics isn't just a club. It's an identity. If you are a woman in physics, whether you join or not, you are one of us. But you don't have to be a woman to join. Everyone is welcome at our meetings!
How do I join Women in Physics?
Joining us is easy! There are no club dues or membership fees to pay, and you are as active as you want to be. If you have a busy life-style, you can just read the announcements and newsletter that is sent out over e-mail. If you would like to be more involved, you can become active in any of the many group projects that we have planned for the upcoming year.
Announcements of our meetings and the speakers that will be present are among the information in the e-mail list. Being on our mailing list is non-obligational; you can attend as few or as many meetings as you want. And no one will call you or hassle you to be any more active than you want to be. To be added to the e-mail list, send a message with your e-mail address to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to be taken off the list, just send another message to the above address, again with your e-mail address and asking to be removed from the list.
