Instructions to Referees

The paper you have been asked to referee will, if accepted, be published in a special issue of Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research: A). As an author, and probably also as a referee, you are certainly familiar with the standards of quality expected in a recognized international journal. Please use the enclosed Manuscript Evaluation Sheet to transmit your comments to the Editors on questions such as soundness, originality and significance of the work, the adequacy of presentation and sufficiency and appropriateness of references. Please feel free to pencil comments in the manuscript.

If you feel unable to review this paper, please return it immediately so that an alternative referee can be found.

This paper is submitted for publication in a Conference Proceedings, and additional considerations must enter the refereeing process. Firstly, a conference paper may be allowed to a limited degree to be preliminary. If you feel, however, that the paper is not sufficiently finalized, or more measurements and/or additional calculations are needed, the paper should be rejected.
Secondly, the paper should not be unduly long.
Thirdly, you should check whether the paper has been presented during the conference by one of its authors. If that is not the case you should return the paper to the Editors, informing them of your observation.

The Editors will not reveal your identity to the authors, but, if you find that useful, you should not hesitate to identify yourself to the authors in order to discuss the manuscript.

Finally, please help in keeping the publication time to a minimum, by doing your refereeing expeditiously. The manuscript with your report should be with the Editors within three week of receipt.

Thank you very much for your assistance.
