Carbon-based electronics is possible with CVD graphene films, a QMD-led study shows.

We have demonstrated excellent electronic properties in a new class of large size "conducting paper" ---- wafer-scale CVD-synthesized graphene thin films that can find numerous applications. This work is performed by a Purdue-UHouston collaboration that also involved researchers from RPI and U-Missouri.

QMD members attend Midwestern Cold Atom Workshop. YPC gives a talk.

Saturday
Nov 15, 2008
: Several QMD members (Ping, Qianli, Sourav and Yong) with
Prof. Dan Elliott’s students drove to Argonne National Lab near
Chicago, IL to attend the 3rd Midwestern Cold Atom
Workshop
.  I gave a 30-minute
talk titled “Controlling interactions in cold atoms and molecules”.  Lots of good work from other groups in
the region (U Chicago, UIUC, OSU, Wisconsin)

Liyuan, Helin and Isaac perform experiments at National High Magnetic Field Lab (NHMFL)

Liyuan (former postdoc, now at Brookhaven), Helin and Isaac will travel to NHMFL this week to perform various magnetotransport studies on exfoliated and epitaxial graphene samples.  They will use the 18 Tesla, 0.3K-70K system in Tallahassee.

Work of graphene synthesized on metal and transferred to insulators while maintaining high quality appeared on APL and VJNST

A collaboration between researchers from UH, RPI and Missouri and QMD showed that graphene segregated from metal surface can be transferred to insulators while maintaining high quality. This may offer a new route to synthesize large scale graphene-based electronic materials for device applications.
