Abstract: In the latest development of nano-optics, light localization is a key issue. In this talk, I will review our recent research activities of utilizing optical scattering to achieve light localization. I will present three examples: (i) spatial localization of light in disordered nanostructures; (ii) light localization in the phase space as a result of scattering at the boundary of a chaotic microcavity; (iii) localization of surface plasmon polaritons in metal-dielectric nanocomposites. The application of light localization to microlasers will be demonstrated.
