A hot and dense matter is created in relativistic heavy ion collisions at BNL with energy density exceeding the predicted critical energy density for hadron to quark-gluon plamsa phase transition. I will review the remarkable properties of the created matter revealed by high transverse momentum photon and hadron probes.
