Title: "Modern Radiocarbon Dating"
Abstract
December 1999 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the
paper which introduced the carbon dating technique (Arnold, J.R. and
Libby, W.F., Science 110, p. 678 1949). This technique has led to a
profound revolution in our understanding of the past, and continues
to be of crucial importance in many fields. This talk will give an
overview of the current state of the art in radiocarbon dating.
Modern developments in calibrating the radiocarbon time scale will be
stressed.
