Title:

Managing Scientific Projects - An Alternate Life Style

Abstract:

Most students look forward to scientific research; their goal is a tenured position in an eminent university or laboratory. Yet how does research get done? It takes money and requires results in a reasonable time. Cost, schedule, performance - in short, a Project! One student's random walk to managing scientific projects will be described, including managing the Hubble Space Telescope, the most productive scientific research project of our time.
