The pictures listed here are Monte Carlo produced gamma ray or proton
initiatedair showers. The pictures show the particle tracks as the
shower developes inthe atmosphere. Different particle types are
represented by different colors, with electrons and positrons
represented by green and red, and muons in blue.(Soon I will add a
particle species color code plot). Only particles which areabove the
threshold for Cherenkov production are shown. The vertical scale ofthe
plots is 17 km, running from 1.3 km to 20 km. The horizontal axis is on
thesame scale as the vertical. Some plots are in a square format, with
thehorizontal axis extending +/- 8.35 km from the shower axis. Other
plots are in a rectangular format, with the horizontal axis running from
+/- 4.675 km from the shower axis.Several different showers are given
for each energy. It is useful to look atmany showers at each energy to
get a feel for the shower to shower variations. The shower
identification numbers are random, so don't worry that they are
notnecessarily consecutive.
