Degree Requirements
Physics Requirements
The following courses are required of all Bachelor of Science physics majors. In meeting these requirements, candidates will also automatically fulfill the College of Science graduation requirements.
Students must complete the requirements for one of the following major options:
1. Physics. (37 credit hours in physics)
2. Physics -- Honors. (53 credit hours in physics)
3. Applied Physics. (33 credit hours in physics)
4. Applied Physics -- Honors. (36 credit hours in physics)
5. Applied Physics in Geophysics (33 credit hours in physics)
6. Applied Physics – Honors in Geophysics (36 credit hours in physics)
7. Physics Teaching. (37 credit hours in physics)
8. Dual Bachelor of Science with a major in Physics, and Materials Science and Engineering. (37 credit hours in physics).
Science Requirements (14-16 credit hours)
Chemistry I: CHM 115 or 123 or 125 4-5 cr.
Chemistry II: CHM 116 or 124 or 126 4-5 cr.

Mathematics (21-25 credit hours)
Calculus I: MA 161 or 165 4-5 cr.
Calculus II: MA 162 or 166 or 173 or 181 4-5 cr.
Calculus III: MA 261 or 174 or 182 or 271 4-5 cr.
Differential Equations: MA 262 or 266 or 366 or equivalent courses 3-4 cr.
Six additional credit hours of approved courses in mathematics.
